2005: The Guilty

In 1999, Selma represented her country with an up-beat song and nearly won, coming in second place. Because of this, there was a lot of hype surrounding the Icelandic entry in 2005 as Selma was returning with what many thought was a better song! With her return so well received and with such a catchy song, what happened next was one of the biggest upsets of the year!
Despite a class act performance, nailing her vocals and dance routine during the semi-final, her song failed to qualify for the final. Weaker songs from the Balkan voting block seemed to keep this Schlager tune from really fulfilling it's true potential. With this song only getting 25 points, it made it the worst Icelandic result yet. Giving Selma the distinction of having gotten the best and worst scores for her home country. Selma certainly deserves some retribution!
Semi-Final Score: 52 pts (16th place out of 25)
